 Young Adult Ministry

Our young adult ministry includes anyone who has graduated from high school and is not past the age of 35. We have quarterly social gatherings, a weekly email devotion, and will be starting an online bible study in the near future.

The night of February 16, a group of young adults met at The Quarter Barrel in downtown Cedar Rapids.  We had some excellent food, conversation, and drinks.  Then spent some time playing games and held a pinball tournament.  Here are the top 3 scorers in the pinball tournament:

  • Jon Berger - 122,940
  • Paul Below - 94,220
  • Mikayla Kopp - 57,010

If you missed this one, join us next time.

Friday, September 22 @ 6:30 pm - Fellowship Hall

Enjoyed a night of food, conversation, and lawn games.

Friday, June 23 starting @ 6:00pm, the young adults spent an evening at Cedar Ridge Winery located near Swisher. We enjoyed wine, food, and music from the band, The Magentos.

We all joined together on Friday, April 28 for an evening of jumping, playing dodge ball, and eating pizza.  It was a fun time to socialize and get some great exercise!

The Confirmation program has the following purposes:

  • To assist parents keep the promises they made when a child was baptized
  • To prepare the youth for "Affirmation of Baptism" at which time the youth publicly professes her/his faith and makes promises
  • To assis in transitioning a youth from child to youth who in relationship with God, is ready to begin taking on some adult responsibilities and roles within the church

The Confirmation program consists of two parts:

  • A classroom element which focuses on learning and knowing basic Christian liturgies, Bible stories, and Lutheran traditions
  • A practicing discipleship element in which the youth get to try out what it means to be a follower of Jesus

Each youth is assigned an adult mentor to help guide and support the youth through the program.
