The Confirmation program has the following purposes:
- To assist parents keep the promises they made when a child was baptized
- To prepare the youth for "Affirmation of Baptism" at which time the youth publicly professes her/his faith and makes promises
- To assis in transitioning a youth from child to youth who in relationship with God, is ready to begin taking on some adult responsibilities and roles within the church
The Confirmation program consists of two parts:
- A classroom element which focuses on learning and knowing basic Christian liturgies, Bible stories, and Lutheran traditions
- A practicing discipleship element in which the youth get to try out what it means to be a follower of Jesus
