Diane was born in San Francisco but grew up on the East Coast. She then moved to the West Coast to attend college in Southern California.
Diane met her husband, Jim, while working at Wycliffe Bible Translators. They were married in Pasadena, but made their home in Iowa and have been married for nearly twenty years.
Diane and Jim have three children and ten grandchildren between them. While she enjoys the amenities of the States, she misses the daily interaction they had with their grandchildren during their time in Kenya.
Diane was initially baptized in the Episcopal tradition but has experienced a wide variety of denominations. Her faith was strongly influenced by her grandmother, a devout Methodist, who came to live with her family while Diane was in Junior High.
Diane experienced a crisis, which resulted in a struggle with her faith and with God. She was directed to the writings of Frederick Buechner, which helped bring her to a stronger relationship with God.
While she has been a part of and involved in many churches throughout her life, Diane considers St. Stephen’s to be her first “Church Family.” Before accepting the position of Council President last year, Diane had been involved in a variety of ways. She has been a cantor, member of the Worship and Music Ministry Team, and has lead support groups and studies. While administrative work comes naturally for her, she hopes to focus on building a strong relationship with church members and is excited for our new church directory to help connect names with faces.
